This tool isn't designed for automation scenarios (it's an add-in to the client app designed to be run by a user directly), but it's certainly possible to do something similar via the Open XML SDK - you would just need to do the "mark" phase in Word, then use the SDK to find those marked runs and redact their contents.

Hi All,

I have downloaded the Word 2007/2010 Redaction tool plug in my word 2007.It is working fine with Manually. Actually, i have manipulating Word 2007/2010 documents in C# through the help of Open XML SDK 2.0(Add,delete,Upate Word paragraphs) successfully.

Now i want to do the redaction work programatically in C#.I dont know is it possible with this redaction tool( as i mentioned, i installed this plugin) or not.

Can i access and do the functionalities of this plug through C# code?

I dont think, it is not possible with Open XML SDK 2.0...

Please Guide me to get clear idea about this and also suggest your ways to proceed the approach towards Automatic Redaction through C# Code...

Hi tristand,

thanxs for your help. I didn't tell my system configuration.

All computers tested are Windows XP SP3 and Office 2007 SP3. Yes the machines have other addins (clicktocall, abbyy finereader and microsoft lync), but all machines have these addins and ones works fine.

I had long time been the problem, so I've given implosible. thanks anyway tristand.

Interesting - I'm a little stumped. Are there other addins installed on the problematic machine? Have you tried reinstalling the add-in?

Hello,

I was able to solve the issue by having out IT Dept login as administrator and uninstall from that user profile. Once complete I logged in and reinstalled. This solved the problem.

All documents are new. Yes all documents fail to redact in PC with the issue :(

Hi,

What's the content of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VSTA\Solutions\ registry key on that machine? Is there a subkey with a value in it whose URL matches the Redaction Tool install location?

Hi,

we have Word 2007/2010 Redaction Tool 1.2 installed on multiple computers. On some computers does not work, then mark the text,click redact and an display error "An Error was Encountered while redacting este documento" and does not open the new document.

We have reviewed the differences between a computer that does not work and one that works fine. I can not find differences... are the same versions. NET framework, Visual Studio and Word 2007.

Anyone know what I can do to fix the problem?

Hello,

Tool was installed previously and worked fine. Received new computer and had system reinstalled by IT Dept. When I use Word the tool is not there or available. It isn't listed under Options (Add-Ins or Disabled) either. I can't find it under installed programs on Control Panel. When I try to install tool receive popup stating tool is installed and located under the IT Administrator AppData Files. When I go to the folder indicated the file isn't there. I search the entire file system for file and it can't be found. The text of the error window is below. The User (BESERV) is the IT Administrator acct. Thanks for your help.

Hi Tristan,

I'm having this exact problem as well. I installed the Word 2007 Redaction Tool on Windows 7 using a domain administrator account, but when I log on to the same workstation as a standard user, the redaction group does not appear in the Review ribbon in Word 2010. When I go to File --> Options --> Add-ins I do see the redaction tool listed, but it doesn't say whether it's active or inactive. If I click on the redaction tool in the list of add-ins, it displays some detail information including the location of the VSTO file, which it says is in a temp file in the C:/Users/ folder for the domain administrator account.

When I ran the install using the domain administrator account, the installation program gave me no option to install the redaction tool for all users or a specific user -- it just went ahead and installed itself under the domain administrator. It looks like only the domain administrator account can see it -- no other user who logs on to the workstation can.

Any ideas would be most appreciated as my users move offices and change workstations quite frequently.

I am attempting to download the 2007 Redaction Add-in that is supposed to be compatible with 2010. So far I haven't been able to get any download to start.

I accidentally clicked on a download for a Free Download Manager and quickly canceled that. I do not want to install any extra junk, I'm just trying to install this single, simple add-in.

Please provide instructions for downloading and installing this add-in with Word 2010.

Hi sportal,

The current version supports both Word 2007 and Word 2010 - although the name specifically says "Word 2007", you should have no problems running it on 2010.

I may have been the previous user. I actually ran the Fixit solution to NO EFFECT. I abandoned trying to install the tool and just ended up making do with manual edits and work-arounds.

I'm still suspicious that some of the files may be infected with some kind of malware. My windows installer being corrupted doesn't make a lot of sense when any other SW install I do seems to work normally.

We've seen this once before - from what we learned that time, this means your Windows Installer state is corrupted somehow (all of the setup work is standard Windows Installer). Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Windows Installer to suggest how you might fix it (the last user fixed himself once we figured this out, and never got back with details).

When I try to run the installer I get a popup that is titled Track-It! Technician Client Setup. It wants to install ..

If I click install I get an error message that it can't find a file.

Is this correct or is the setup inadvertantly triggering the Track-It! installer as I do have Track-It! installed on my machine.
