Release Notes

The initial release of the Word 2007 Redaction Tool. This version can be installed directly over the Beta (if you have it).

New to Version 1.0

  • Find and Mark - allows for all instances of a specific string to be marked at once
  • Various bug fixes


The following items are required:
  • The .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
  • The VSTO 3.0 Runtime Service Pack 1
If either of these items are not installed, Setup will download and install them automatically, but a reboot may be required.

  • This add-in is not officially supported by Microsoft; however, the source code is available so it can be viewed and modified (please consult the License tab if you have any questions on licensing).
  • We recommend that you carefully review any documents redacted using this tool to confirm that all the information that you intended to redact was successfully redacted.

The interface is intuitive. When you're finished redacting, the "Redaction Complete" dialog box offers to take you to Document Inspector before you save the document, which is a nice touch. The only problem is Setup, which is slow (about an hour) both under XP and under Vista. Also, under Vista, Setup had to be manually restarted after the installation of .NET Framework Client Profile and reboot.
